After hundreds of flights, I’ve narrowed down a list of my all-time favorite flight essentials that help me look and feel my best even after long flights. In today’s article, I will run through each item,
Also sharing a secret flight hack that I can guarantee you will love and use on your next flight.
The first travel essential I bring on every single flight is a travel size bottle of Downy Wrinkle Release Spray. It’s great for your entire trip, as a quick spritz and gentle smoothing with your hands will keep your clothes looking freshly ironed, even if they’re a wrinkled mess in your luggage. I find this especially useful on planes when I pull out a new shirt to change into just before landing. My secret to staying sharp and wrinkle-free after hours in a tight airplane seat. I grabbed this travel size bottle on Amazon and had no problem getting it in my liquid bag and then right through TSA airport security on the plane.
And this next one is my favorite.
Actually, I’d say number four is my favorite for looking put together, but for not being a drippy, gross, sweaty mess before the plane takes off.
The planes you buy here feel like a sauna and then the temperature drops to freezing cold when you get in the air. This past summer, I got on a flight, but the plane was delayed and we ended up sitting on the runway, unable to get off the plane for over an hour. And get this, the reason for the delay was a broken AC unit. Gotta love Air Canada. Thank God I had it with me. Traveling with a compact, portable fan will not only make you more comfortable on the plane, it’s also going to save you from that lingering B.O. Smell when getting off the plane. It’s extra cool, since it also has a stand, so you can put it on your tray table instead of holding it, and it has a built-in flashlight underneath. It also doubles as a portable power bank so you can use it to charge your phone.Â
Another versatile tool you’ll love for any flight is a moisturizing stick.
The dry cabin air and high altitude absolutely suck the moisture out of your skin. I swear, after spending a few hours on a plane, I look and feel ten years older because all the skin around my lips and around my eyes is dry and cracked. ok,Â
It’s always shocking to me how quickly this happens on a plane, and having a multipurpose moisturizing stick is an absolute lifesaver. My favorite is the Classic Aquaphor Healing Balm Stick because it’s hypoallergenic, fragrance free and ridiculously effective, it’s cheap and a personal favorite flight essential that makes the biggest difference to my appearance.Â
Dry shampoo coming off a flight is going to be,
And if you’re a human watching this, don’t click just yet. I swear this little miracle in a can is going to make a huge difference to any head of hair. And if you don’t have hair, maybe skip to 30 because you’ll love the latter. Dry shampoo is a game changer after a long flight, because with a quick spritz on your roots, it’s any oil, Will soak up any odor and leave your hair looking volumizing and fresh. I absolutely love this stuff. Even when I get off the plane, I’m using it throughout my trip. You can also buy dry shampoo powder, but I prefer the aerosol. I find this to be the most efficient, and I can put this travel size bottle in my liquid bag and take it through TSA airport security with no problem.Â
Excuse me for a moment. It is relatively good.
Let us know your all-time favorite flight must-haves in the comments.
We all know that was really bad and a TSA friendly runner-up that it didn’t make it onto my flight essentials list, but it might be eyedrops on yours. If you are prone to dry eyes, Then eyedrops can be a game changer in making your flight more comfortable and helping you look and feel less terrible when you land. Speaking of uncomfortable, you’ll want to remove your contacts before takeoff. Trust me.Â
Proceed to the next trip as required.
All these travel disasters are going to be heroes. Tied to a stick. If you haven’t tripped over yourself on a plane before, it’s only a matter of time until you have. And when that turbulence hits at just the wrong moment and you end up with little coffee dribbles all over your shirt, you’ll be so glad you took a moment to pack a tide to go to the sticks.
Before I share one of my all-time favorite flight hacks, it’s worth mentioning three pretty cool airplane essentials that many of you have been recommending to me.
I haven’t actually tried them yet, but they’re getting great reviews on Amazon and may soon become part of my flight packing essentials.Â
1.First on the list are the Alpine Fly Fit Earplugs.
which promises pressure relief to prevent ear pain during takeoff and landing. I personally just chew gum and it seems to work, but I know it doesn’t work for everyone.
Next we have this nifty airplane tray table cover.
Which acts as a seatback organizer, as well as giving you regular flyers a clean surface to eat and work on, you know the seatback tray table is notorious for being one of the dirtiest places. Airplane, so it will definitely come in handy.
Finally, the flight flap phone and tablet holder.
It seems so simple but so useful. Be sure to let us know in the comments if you have tried these and how your experience was. And here’s a super simple but absolutely game-changing flight hack that’s going to tie it all together using a bathroom door hook and then a strategically timed alarm. Set an alarm on your phone to go off two hours before your flight is expected to land. The reason you want to set the alarm two hours before the flight lands is because about 1.5 hours before landing the cabin lights come on, people wake up, and all the landing announcements for the flight start. This is also the time when everyone gets up and goes to the washroom. The goal here is to beat the bathroom crowd so you don’t have to wait in line, And so that a line out the bathroom door doesn’t rush you. If you’ve ever been inside an airplane bathroom, you know they’re rather compact, not very pleasant, and designed to get you in and out as quickly as possible, with dim lighting and absolutely no counter space. This is where bathroom hooks come into play.
Â
You pack a hanging toiletry bag and then attach it to the back of the bathroom door. Inside this bag are all the essentials I mentioned in this article, as well as a few more basic items like toothpaste, a toothbrush, and even these little floss sticks. By putting it on the bathroom door, you have easy access to all the tools I need to freshen up before the plane lands, and then by setting that alarm two hours before the flight lands, you don’t usually run to the washroom. And because you beat the rush.Â
Â
But you don’t have to buy one of these if you don’t want to. Before you had it, you’d just use a plastic bag, dump all your flight essentials into it, and then put the handles on the bathroom hook so you could easily access those items.Â
